Square Knots originated back in 1966 when its charter members had
very young children who needed to get out once in a while to enjoy
adult company while keeping the budget to a minimum. Our purpose is
still the same: to promote social fellowship and recreation for
adult members and friends of members of the First Presbyterian
Church of Hamilton Square weather they're singles or couples.
Meetings are held on the first Saturday (generally evening) of every
month except July and August. In recent years we've been functioning
without officers, program chairpersons or committee chairpersons.
It's the input and active involvement of everyone that makes Square
Knots a success. As we evolve and our membership changes, our
programs change also.
SQUARE KNOT
HAPPENINGS
As has been our custom the last several
years, the Square Knots monthly programs are run by individuals who
ask club members to assist them in running their respective
program. Wayne and Barbara Anderson will be the
Secretaries/Publicity persons and Elly Dennis will, once again, be
the phone contact person. Paul Tindall is the Treasurer.

On
Saturday, February 4th
we plan to attend Kelsey Theatre on the Mercer County Community
College campus to see “Laughter on the 23rd Floor”. This
aware-winning production takes us back to the golden age of
television, circa 1953, and behind the scenes of the hottest program
on the air, “The Max Prince Show”. Inspired by Neil Simon’s
real-life experiences while working on Sid Caesar’s hit television
program, “Your Show of Shows,” this side-splitting comedy is modeled
after the real-life kings of comedy we worked with in the 1950’s,
including Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner, Sid Caesar and the great Jackie
Gleason. Curtain time is 8:00 p.m. You may want to car pool by
calling anyone on the sign-up sheet. To make a reservation and for
reservation and payment deadline, see Donna & Paul Tindall as
quickly as possible.
On
Saturday, March 3rd
we plan to be in rooms 5 & 6 of the church by 6:00 p.m. for Irish
Dinner Night. This will include salad, corned beef & cabbage, Irish
soda bread and dessert. The corned beef & cabbage and Irish soda
bread will be provided. You are asked to indicate whether you’ll
bring salad or dessert when you sign up. Cost will be determined
that evening and will be payable to Linda Woodman. Please use the
sign-up sheet or call Elly Dennis no later than Sunday, February 26th.
Looking forward to seeing you at the above
listed events. All adult members and friends of the church
community are invited and encouraged to participate in events
sponsored by the Square Knots.
