Just a ThoughtTrue grace is so overwhelming you are compelled to extend it to
those around you whether they deserve it or not. That is a truly
joyful and liberating way to live. Your mind is set; your path is
clear; you need not depend on reactions of others to determine how
you will react to them because you have already made your choice.
Grace takes the initiative to live with passion and
compassion; it does not play it safe, but lavishes itself on others,
just as grace is daily lavished on us. Have a favorite quote or a thought you would like to share? Drop me a note and I'll post it for all to enjoy For more information on Women's ministries contact the church office. 587-3683 or Email
Local Retreat Opportunity – September 25-26, 2009 Saint Mark United Methodist Church, 465 Paxson Ave. The United Methodist Women are hosting a church-wide fall retreat on Friday and Saturday, September 25-26. Men and women are invited to join for Awaken the Fire! The keynote speaker will be Pastor Debbie Nelson from Florida. Luke’s gospel reminds us to guard the fire within but in this high-paced, demanding society, we face “fire extinguishers” at every turn: fatigue, busyness, life demands, relational problems, etc. Join the retreat for lively worship, great teachings, and profound moments of healing and grace as you explore God's fire within us. Attend one or both days for a donation of $10 to cover breakfast, lunch and snacks for the weekend. Registration - Friday evening - 6:30 – 7:00; Saturday – 8:30 – 9:00. (“Bonfire bash” Friday night at 8:30.) Information is on the hallway bulletin board or contact Saint Mark’s Church at 609-587-1268.

WOMEN’S CIRCLES
We have three women’s circles to encourage one another to study God’s Word and to enjoy one another’s company. Each circle is named for a respected woman in the Bible or this congregation. They meet monthly from September – May so now is a great time to join a circle or recommit to attending. Just find the one that interests you.
Emma Dilatush
The Emma Dilatush Circle meets the third Wednesday night of each month at 7:30 PM. We meet in each other’s home for a Bible study and share some light refreshments. We have been studying the life of Paul as told in the Book of Acts. Please contact Donna Tindall for this month’s meeting location.
Mary/Martha
The Mary/Martha Circle is open to all women, especially women who work outside the home. We meet on the third Monday of the month at 7:30 PM in members’ homes. The study leader of the evening leads the lesson, and the hostess serves refreshments around 9:00 PM. For 2009-10 we will study the origin of several well-known hymns. Contact Linda Weltmann for more information.
Sara Rogers
The Sara
Rogers Circle meets at 12:30
PM
on the first Wednesday of the month in Room 4 of the church.
Each participant brings a sandwich and beverage; hot water for
tea is provided. The hostess brings a little candy and nuts.
Most of us are retired, but we are still young at heart!
In our “Vision Statement for 2005-2008”, the congregation of the First Presbyterian Church of Hamilton Square is “charged to nurture, educate, and care for one another”. Recently it’s been noticed that there’s an area within our membership that may benefit from an opportunity for fellowship. Within our church, we have approximately two dozen women who are widowed. Some are just beginning to adjust to life without their partners; others have more experience and years since their husbands passed away. Some have questions about who to call if the car breaks down or a pipe breaks, or who will mow the lawn or shovel the sidewalk, or how do I balance my checkbook, etc. Perhaps other women would enjoy company for dinner out or a movie. A time to share questions, thoughts or feelings with someone experiencing a similar situation may be just what’s needed for some. There are endless ways this group of women could support, comfort and pray for each other. Would you like to join us for a initial meeting and brainstorming session on Saturday, April 25th at 7:00 in the church’s parlor? We will look into forming a fellowship group for women whose spouses have passed away. We would like to invite you to attend whether you’ve been widowed for many years or just a short while. Perhaps we can fill a need and have some fun together at the same time. If you’re not able to provide your own transportation, no worries – we’ll be happy to pick you up!. Please call Marion Walters or Terri Burd with any questions. We hope to see you on April 25th.
